As we progress through life with our spouse or partner, periods of feeling disconnected are common in relationships. As we get older and we prioritize different things, we sometimes feel like we’ve lost that “spark” that accompanies love, passion, and affection. Priorities like financial planning, childrearing, and career, can distract us from our relationship or make us forget the feeling excitement we used to have with our spouse years ago.
As children and teenagers, many of us experience feelings of insecurity that cause us to care deeply of what others think of us. We try to fit in, want to be liked, and spend hours on end worrying about what will happen if we aren’t accepted.
A negative situation doesn’t have to have lasting effects, but it certainly can. Many of us have trouble letting go. We all make mistakes, get into arguments with friends, or experience the disappointment of making a plan and not having it pan out.
